The global labor force of outsourced and contract workers are early adopters of generative AI — and the most at risk.
Six months after the blockbuster launch of ChatGPT, outsourced illustrators, copywriters, and call center employees told me that they are already seeing generative AI change the demand for their work and the stability of their income. While some braced for layoffs or diminishing commissions, others embraced AI tools in an effort to keep ahead of the curve. As part of this project, our team at Rest of World profiled four freelancers around the world. We commissioned two pieces of work from each: one created with AI, and one without.
